Creative's Sanctuary Deck
An online oracle deck for creatives — small rituals for clarity, courage, and momentum.
The Short Story
This idea lived in my files for almost two years. I started it in Illustrator — mapping themes to the four elements and designing early card concepts — then left it idle. Later, I remembered it and shipped a working version in three hours: I designed the site, built the interactions with Claude Code, and deployed it the same day.
What It Is
Creative’s Sanctuary Deck is a lightweight, browser-based oracle deck for creative block and “what now?” moments. Draw one card for a quick nudge, or three for a mini-spread — then keep moving.
Why It Matters
Most creative tools are optimized for output. This one is optimized for returning to yourself — playful structure, emotional permission, and a micro-ritual you can actually use.
How It Works
- Designed the deck system around the four elements, each with a distinct creative/emotional angle
- Wrote + organized the initial set: 40 cards (10 per element)
- Built and shipped v1 fast (design → implementation → deployment) using Claude Code
- Created the illustrations with Claude: I initially wanted to use my own drawings, but they were too detailed — so I had them simplified into a bolder, more playful style and kept that direction for v1
What Shipped
- v1.0: 40-card deck + single draw + three-card draw
- Mobile-friendly, minimal UI so the ritual stays the focus
Next
- Expand the deck (new cards + spread types)
- Revisit the illustration system (refine style / possibly reintroduce a hand-drawn direction)
- Explore a physical deck if the digital version earns repeat use
